I've used newsgroups since the mid 90's - that never happened to me until now. I was just typing another message and when I looked up - I saw mail window - not my message. ( that's when I saw your reply to me) That never happened to me prior to THIS last release of Vista and Mail - Really.
That's happened to you before .... in Win 98 , 2000, etc with OE ?
I noticed < just happened again - this is friggin' irritating > that I have preview pane on - maybe that's it - I'll turn it off. ( I normally don't use it but it is on here by default )

I know exactly what you are talking about Bobb. VERY ANNOYING! Just as I was typing this, it refreshed and sent this window I was working on to the task bar. I was still looking down at the keyboard and still typing when I realized it was gone! lol dotcom

Ok - I closed the preview pane and I was displaying messages in this group. Options:
Hide read messages Show replies to my messages Group by conversation
and I had UNGROUPED a few conversations and was reading one message. Uptime time occurs and all messages regrouped and I'm viewing the mail window again - not the one that I was reading.
Does
everyone agree that this WAS normal ? Was is just me that this never happened to prior to new Vista < MAIL screen just popped up again >. If this is normal - I'm done using this.

I can't swear it was there in Win98, but I do not remember it not being there and there have always been complaints that if OE updates it's message list the Preview Pane shifts to the top of the message. Very annoying.

turn off auto updating of mail and do it manually or just when OE opens.

Come on Mikey - that's cheating. I could do that but that's not a fix. For 10 years it wasn't an issue - now it is.
